Durable Induction Hardened Chrome Bar with 20μm Chrome Thickness
Our induction hardened chrome bar is engineered for high-performance hydraulic and mechanical applications requiring superior surface quality, durability, and precision. Each hard chrome shaft features external diameter accuracy of f8, with a maximum surface roughness of Ra 0.2μm, ensuring smooth operation and reduced friction. The hard chrome thickness reaches a minimum of 15μm for diameters under 22.225mm and 20μm for 24mm and above, delivering exceptional wear and corrosion resistance.
With a surface hardness of HRC 55° ±2°, and hardened depth ranging from 0.5mm to 1.5mm for middle-frequency induction hardening—this chrome bar guarantees strength under demanding conditions. It maintains excellent straightness of max 0.2–0.25mm per 1000mm, roundness within ½ tolerance, and is available in standard lengths from 2M to 6M, with diameters from Φ6 to Φ255.
Made from high-grade steels like JIS S45C, SAE1045, SCM440, and more, our induction hardened chrome bars offer reliable performance, tight tolerances, and long-term resistance in industrial environments. Custom sizes and specifications are available upon request.
High-Performance Induction Hardened Chrome Shafting for Demanding Applications
When strength, durability, and surface performance are non-negotiable, induction hardened chrome shafting offers a superior solution for high-stress hydraulic and mechanical environments. Unlike standard hard chrome bars, an induction hardened chrome plated rod is engineered for heavy-duty applications that demand enhanced core hardness, greater fatigue resistance, and longer service life.
While both hard chrome rods and induction hardened chrome shafting provide excellent surface hardness through hard chrome plating (typically 15–20μm), their internal characteristics set them apart. A standard hard chrome rod is made from medium carbon steel such as C45 or SAE1045, offering moderate core strength and a surface hardness of ≥ 800 HV. This makes it ideal for general hydraulic cylinder use, pneumatic equipment, and linear motion systems where corrosion resistance and surface finish are essential.
On the other hand, induction hardened chrome plated rods are manufactured from high-strength alloy steels like CK45, 42CrMo4, or JIS SCM440. These induction hardened chrome shafting undergo an advanced heat treatment process that rapidly heats and cools the surface to create a deep case hardened layer (typically 1.5 mm). This treatment enhances fatigue strength, impact resistance, and overall shaft rigidity, resulting in a product capable of withstanding dynamic loading conditions and mechanical shock.
These induction hardened chrome shafting maintain surface hardness values of HRC 55 ± 2°, external diameter accuracy of f8, and surface roughness ≤ Ra 0.2μm. The roundness tolerance is tightly controlled at ½ of the standard tolerance, and straightness is maintained at max 0.25 mm per meter for small diameters (under Ø20mm) and max 0.2 mm per meter for larger induction hardened chrome plated rods. Available in standard lengths from 2M to 6M and diameters from Ø6 to Ø255 mm, these induction hardened chrome plated rods rods support a wide range of industrial uses.
Key features of our induction hardened chrome shafting include:
Hard Chrome Thickness: min. 15μm for Ø<22.225mm and min. 20μm for Ø≥24mm
Surface Hardness: HRC 55° ± 2°
Case Depth (Induction Hardened): 0.5mm – 1.5mm
Steel Grades: JIS S45C, S55C, SAE1045, DIN CK45, JIS SCM440, 20MnV6, 38MnVS6
Roundness & Straightness Tolerance: Enhanced for precision shafting
Because of these properties, induction hardened chrome plated rods are used in:
1. Heavy-duty hydraulic cylinders for construction, mining, and agriculture
2. Press machines and injection molding equipment
3. Marine and offshore systems with high corrosion and impact loads
4. Telescopic hydraulic cylinders for cranes and dump trucks
5. Industrial automation and linear motion setups under mechanical fatigue
These induction hardened chrome plated rods provide unmatched durability in challenging conditions, significantly reducing maintenance frequency and downtime. Whether for OEM manufacturing or equipment repair, choosing induction hardened chrome shafting ensures long-term operational reliability.
If your system operates under high pressure, frequent motion, or corrosive environments, induction hardened chrome plated rods deliver the structural integrity and wear resistance you need.
